Pressure Washing Processes explained in a little more detail

Pressure washing, sofwashing, biocide softwash

Pressure Washing, Power Washing or Jet Washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. The volume of a mechanical pressure washer is expressed in litres per minute, often designed into the pump and not variable.

The pressure, expressed in bar is designed into the pump but can be varied by adjusting the unloader valve, my equipment runs at 21lpm at 200bar.

The terms pressure washing and power washing are used interchangeably in many scenarios, and there is some debate as to whether they are actually different processes, either way the same outcome is achieved.

What Is Soft Washing

Soft washing is a cleaning method using low pressure water. More recently, the term "softwashing" has been used to describe any form of spraying chemicals at buildings where solutions (typically bleach) are used to remove mildew, bacteria, algae and other organic stains from roofs and other building exteriors.

Biocide softwashing

Biocide is a high quality, professional-grade softwash product.

Can be used in conjunction with power washing as a post-treatment, or as a stand alone soft wash solution

Fully biodegradable

Does not bio-accumulate

Ph neutral, so safe for materials and gentle on people

Controls algae, lichen, fungi & mould

Non-bleaching (contains no bleach or acids)

Not affected by hard or mineralised water

Harmless to all known building materials

Can be used as a pre-painting primer to kill algae and mould spores

Helps control wet and dry rot on wooden buildings, sheds, fences and decking

Soaks deep into porous surfaces – killing the micro-organisms responsible for unsightly discolouring, and potential structural damage – because of its low surface tension, which makes it an excellent "wetting agent"

Safe for children and pets once a treated surface is completely dry (use max 50:1 dilution to treat any surface children and animals may walk or play on)

Biocide is effective and safe to use on

Sand & cement wall render

Brickwork

Natural and artificial slate roofs

Clay tiled roofs
